Born in Sialkot, Yasim Murtaza is an experienced batting all-rounder, who plays for Hong Kong. Murtaza made his List-A and T20 debut in 2006 for Rawalpindi Rams, one of the Pakistan domestic club teams. In the following year, he set his foot in First-Class cricket for Rawalpindi. The elegant batter continued to play in Pakistan domestic cricket until 2015 and featured in 74 First-Class, 59 List A, and 33 Twenty20 matches. After missing cricket due to injury in 2016, Murtaza decided to ply his trade for Hong Kong, on a friend’s advice. After completing the minimum residency period, Murtaza became eligible to play for the Hong Kong national team in May 2022. In the 2019-2022 edition of the CWC Challenge League B, Murtaza garnered 192 runs and scalped 15 wickets. In this pursuit, the 31-year-old hit his highest List A score of 107* against Jersey. The polished all-rounder made his T20I debut for Hong Kong in July 2022. Murtaza emerged as the best all-round performer with 130 runs and three wickets in the Asia Cup qualifier for the main event in August 2022. As of August 2022
